Episode 448: Return of the Demon Instructor
A fiery rage ignited in Sabikang’s eyes.
“What did you just say?”
“You heard me perfectly well.”
The masked man smirked.
Sabikang’s brow furrowed deeply.
“I’ll kill you.”
“Be my guest.”
The masked man maintained his grin.
In the blink of an eye,
Bang!
Sabikang vanished as if he were a mirage.
In the next instant, he was right in front of the masked man.
For the first time, surprise flickered across the masked man’s face.
“Without using demonic arts, and still this fast?”
Ignoring the masked man’s shock, Sabikang swung his sword, Veritas, with lethal precision.
Swish!
The blade sliced through the air, aiming for the masked man’s neck, but it was only an illusion. The masked man had already disappeared like a mirage.
“Blink?”
Sabikang turned around, and as expected, the masked man stood at a considerable distance, arms crossed.
Despite the distance, the masked man’s voice reached Sabikang’s ears clearly.
“That woman, Maesellan, the head of the Demon Extermination Division, is quite the enchantress, isn’t she? The Master will have a delightful time with her…”
The masked man’s eyes widened as Sabikang appeared right in front of him again.
Before he could even react,
“Run your mouth, and you’ll shorten your life.”
Sabikang’s voice was cold as he swung his fist.
Boom!
The sound was like metal striking metal, and the masked man was sent flying, rolling across the ground.
“Heh, quite the punch…”
The masked man struggled to his feet, but once again, Sabikang was upon him.
“How can you be this fast? There should be a cooldown for using demonic arts again…”
Sabikang grabbed the masked man’s hair roughly.
“We’re not on the same level, you fool.”
“Level…?”
The masked man tilted his head, trying to comprehend, but Sabikang’s fist cut off his thoughts.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
With his hair firmly in Sabikang’s grip, the masked man couldn’t move, taking blow after blow to the face.
His once pale face turned a deep crimson, teeth knocked out, nose crushed, eyes swollen.
“Your punches… sting… but even so… the Master will…”
Smack!
The masked man was sent flying again, his hair ripped out, rolling across the ground.
Sabikang tossed the clump of hair aside and walked toward the masked man with deadly intent.
His entire being radiated a murderous aura.
The masked man staggered to his feet, breathing heavily.
It was a one-sided fight, anyone could see that.
Wiping the blood from his mouth with his sleeve, the masked man spoke with difficulty.
“Huff, huff… Aren’t you curious? Why I’m facing you despite the vast difference in our abilities…?”
Sabikang didn’t respond, only intensified his killing intent.
Flash!
Using blink magic once more, he appeared before the masked man.
Grab!
Sabikang seized the masked man’s collar roughly.
The masked man grinned, and with a snap of his fingers,
Snap!
A loud, resonant sound echoed.
Immediately, the ground began to tremble.
Rumble…!
The earth shook, and from beneath, monstrous creatures erupted, roaring ferociously.
It was an army, a legion of beasts.
The creatures charged at Sabikang from all directions.
Sabikang’s eyes narrowed.
“Pointless…”
He muttered, tossing the masked man into the horde and spreading his arms wide.
“Hellfire!”
Whoosh!
Intense heat radiated outward, incinerating the advancing monsters in an instant.
Screams and roars filled the air, indistinguishable from one another.
The burning creatures flailed and fell, but those with fire attributes continued their assault.
“Stop being a nuisance!”
Sabikang shouted, slashing Veritas horizontally.
Slash!
A blue arc of energy swept through the monsters, cutting them down like a tidal wave.
Yet, the number of creatures seemed endless.
Rumble!
The ground continued to spew forth more beasts, relentless in their assault.
Finally, Sabikang leaped into the sky.
He extended his arms and shouted,
“Ground of Fury!”
A strange vibration emanated from the earth.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground erupted, shaking and shattering as if the world were ending.
The monsters charging at Sabikang were buried in the upheaval.
Sabikang showed no mercy.
He unleashed magic attacks indiscriminately, regardless of the creatures’ attributes.
“Ground of Death!”
Spikes shot up from the ground, impaling the monsters.
Screams echoed as they writhed and died.
Yet, the creatures’ persistence was unyielding.
Rumble!
“Roar!”
Anyone witnessing this would think hell itself preferable.
The monsters piled upon each other, forming a living tower reaching for Sabikang.
Just as they were about to reach him,
“Frozen Tempest!”
A storm of ice swept through, freezing everything in its path.
The monsters froze in place, unable to move.
The tower of creatures turned into a frozen monument.
Sabikang looked down with cold eyes, extending his hand for the final blow.
“Fury of the Heaven!”
Lightning rained down from the sky, a divine wrath upon the earth.
The frozen monsters shattered under the onslaught.
Boom!
With one last tremor, the heavens calmed.
The ground was a wasteland, no more creatures emerging.
Only the occasional twitch of a monster’s limb remained.
Sabikang descended slowly, landing beside the masked man.
The masked man, too, had not escaped the widespread magic unscathed, his body battered.
He grinned with his last remaining strength.
“It’s over… cough! Cough!”
He turned his head, coughing up blood.
“Indeed… Zonya was right… You’re beyond… imagination… cough! This great work… has been achieved… your energy… will be its foundation…”
The masked man couldn’t finish his sentence, dying with his eyes open.
Sabikang frowned slightly.
Suddenly,
Sizzle!
Dark tattoos on the masked man’s body flared red and began to burn.
“Argh!”
“Ahhh!”
In the distance, wounded enemies screamed as their bodies turned to ash, scattering in the wind.
Simultaneously, the golems surrounding the area emitted a golden light, forming a grand arc that enveloped the sky.
For the first time in their lives, Akcheon Goe and the assassins stared wide-eyed at the sky, utterly bewildered by the scene unfolding before them.
“What… what is this?”
“Damn it! What on earth is happening?”
Even the warriors of the Justice Alliance, who had been fighting at a considerable distance, were visibly shaken and began to panic.
In an instant,
Whoooosh!
The golden aura emitted by the golems, now as solid as fortress walls, spread across the sky, enveloping everything.
Rumble!
The ground trembled beneath them.
Sabi Kang furrowed his brow deeply.
“Could it be… a Golem Gate?”
He had never seen one himself. But during his time in the demon realm, he had heard of it—a massive teleportation barrier created using golems, a byproduct of magic. It was called a “Golem Gate” because it was designed for large-scale transportation between locations. However, due to the immense time and power required, it was rarely used, even in the demon realm.
And yet, here it was?
“If that’s the case, this isn’t a descent site… it’s just an altar. Which means every human here is a sacrifice…”
As if to answer Sabi Kang’s thoughts, the golems, standing like a protective wall, began to emit an overwhelming light. Soon, the light became so intense that it completely filled their vision, making it impossible to see even an inch ahead.
**
“Commander! The Demon Cult is attacking!”
At Dan Lijeong’s report, Maeseollan sprang to her feet.
“The Demon Cult? What about the descent site?”
The question slipped out reflexively, and she immediately regretted it. In such a dire situation, how could she possibly know what had happened to the descent site?
She quickly corrected herself.
“How many are there?”
“Approximately two thousand!”
“What? Two thousand…?”
Maeseollan’s eyes widened in disbelief. That was more than twice the number of students left at the Exorcist Academy. They must have come with the intent to reduce the academy to ashes!
“Sound the alarm and prepare for battle immediately!”
“Understood!”
Dan Lijeong responded and dashed out.
Maeseollan bit her lip hard.
“I will protect this place, no matter what!”
