Episode 566: The Return of the Demon Instructor

Jakart’s brow twitched in irritation.

“Who is this human? How did he get in here?”

That was his first thought.

The next question that followed was…

“Is he even human?”

It was a reasonable doubt, considering he hadn’t sensed the man’s presence until he spoke.

How could that be possible?

Jakart furrowed his brow and stared intently at Sabikang.

“Who are you?”

“I thought I was pretty famous, but I guess there are still people who don’t know me. Looks like I need to work harder. Or maybe you’re just out of touch?”

Jakart’s expression turned blank.

The man’s response was so absurd that he couldn’t even muster anger.

“Who on earth is this guy…?”

A name flashed through his mind.

“Could it be…?”

“Are you that infamous Sabikang?”

Sabikang’s face lit up with a bright smile.

“Oh, you finally recognize me? I was about to be really disappointed.”

“So, it’s you. You’re that guy.”

Jakart’s expression turned icy cold.

In the next moment, a chilling aura swept over his entire body.

With a sneer, he said, “It would have been better if I hadn’t recognized you. Now that I do, you’re as good as dead.”

Sabikang scratched his ear, grumbling, “Man, you talk a lot. But you know why I’m here, don’t you…?”

In a flash,

Shiiing!

The sword at Sabikang’s waist, Vertas, unsheathed itself and flew through the air.

At the same time,

Crack!

The air seemed to freeze, forming a translucent ice barrier in front of Jakart.

But Vertas wasn’t aiming for Jakart.

The sword flew past him, piercing through the heart of a demon-turned child.

Thud!

With a ghastly scream, the demon collapsed, its vital point struck, and it moved no more.

Vertas circled back into Sabikang’s hand.

“Poor kid.”

Jakart’s expression turned incredulous, and he let out a dry laugh.

“You’ll soon realize you’re in no position to pity others. Selmos, go and sweep away the humans. I’ll deal with this clueless human.”

“Yes, my lord!”

Selmos bowed and dashed outside.

Sabikang, unfazed, pointed Vertas at Jakart.

“Get ready. You’re next.”

“You insolent…!”

Jakart’s brow furrowed deeply.

In the next instant,

Bang!

“I’ll tear that mouth of yours apart!”

He launched himself at Sabikang, the ground cracking beneath his feet.

Crack!

As he reached out, the air rapidly cooled, forming long ice blades.

Shing!

With a wave of his hand, the ice blades shot toward Sabikang at terrifying speed.

Crash!

Sabikang swung Vertas, shattering the ice blades into pieces that scattered in all directions.

Thud! Thud!

“Ugh!”

“Argh!”

Mages and demon knights in the courtyard fell with dying screams.

Then Sabikang charged forward, kicking off the ground.

Whoosh!

Vertas flew like a beam of light, aiming for Jakart’s throat.

“Not so fast!”

Jakart spread his hands wide,

Crack!

The air froze again, forming a thin, translucent shield.

It was a delicate ice barrier, but with the power of dark magic, it was stronger than most shields.

Clang!

With a clear metallic sound, Vertas was deflected.

Sabikang quickly retreated, and Jakart’s figure vanished in a flash.

In the next moment, he appeared behind Sabikang, bringing his hand down.

Crack!

An ice blade formed from his descending hand.

But Sabikang used a blink technique to retreat several meters away.

Boom!

The ice blade shattered into powder as it struck the ground.

‘Damn it!’

Jakart gritted his teeth as Sabikang moved with unexpected agility.

Whoosh!

Sabikang also used his martial arts to clash head-on.

Crash! Clang! Clang! Crack!

It was a chaotic battle.

They fought with such speed that to an ordinary observer, it would seem like flashes of lightning.

Occasionally, sharp ice blades formed from Jakart’s hands, only to shatter and disappear.

As time passed, Jakart grew increasingly anxious.

Throughout the fight, one thought dominated his mind.

“Is this guy really human?”

He had never encountered a human like this before.

Even when he heard that Helmut had betrayed them, he hadn’t thought much of Sabikang.

It wasn’t surprising that Helmut, who was once human, had turned traitor.

But facing Sabikang now, he wondered if Helmut had simply been overpowered.

Just then, Sabikang soared into the sky and descended like a meteor.

“Tch!”

Jakart clicked his tongue, forming an ice barrier and launching ice daggers from the air.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

The ice daggers shattered into a misty haze.

Sabikang cut through the white mist and struck Jakart.

Crash!

The ice barrier shattered, and Jakart was sent flying backward.

Boom!

He crashed through a pavilion, tumbling to the ground.

Sabikang gave him no time to recover, charging forward with Vertas.

Whoosh!

Clang!

Vertas clashed with an ice blade.

But this time, the ice blade didn’t break.

Screech!

With an unpleasant grinding sound, the ice blade slowly chipped away.

“The power of dark magic is impressive, as always.”

“What do you know about dark magic, you wretch?”

Jakart growled, gritting his teeth.

He couldn’t accept the situation.

How could a mere human fight him on equal terms?

Sabikang smirked.

“I know more than you, Jakart.”

“How do you know my name…?”

“Does it matter? You should focus on the fight.”

With that, Sabikang spun and kicked at Jakart.

Boom!

His foot struck the ice barrier, sending another cloud of mist into the air.

Crash!

Jakart was flung back, crashing through a wall to the rear of the pavilion.

Sabikang kicked off the ground to pursue him. Or at least, he tried to.

But then…

“Cold…!”

Sabikang flinched, looking down at his feet.

Frost crept up from his toes, freezing him in place.

“Tch!”

He clicked his tongue, channeling his energy to counter the cold.

The chill from Jakart’s earlier attack had frozen him.

“If it’s this cold… it means he’s nearly exhausted his dark magic.”

The lack of immediate retaliation confirmed his suspicion.

Jakart knew.

Even though Sabikang’s feet were frozen, he still had enough strength to defend against an attack.

Meanwhile, Jakart quickly turned and ran toward another pavilion.

He hadn’t expected to be pushed to this point by a human.

But he would make sure Sabikang paid for underestimating him.

The chill he unleashed had drained his dark magic to its limit.

An ordinary human would have been frozen solid, turned into a statue.

But Sabikang was that infamous figure among the demons.

Facing him, Jakart realized why he was so notorious.

Even now, he had only managed to freeze Sabikang’s lower body.

A direct confrontation with Sabikang was proving difficult.

“I didn’t think I’d have to use these so soon.”

He reached another pavilion, this one without windows and its entrance bound with chains.

He extended his hand, and the door froze solid.

Crash!

It shattered into pieces.

Entering the dark pavilion, he descended a staircase to the basement.

There, another iron door awaited.

He reached out, muttering an incantation.

“Unlock!”

A faint light shimmered across the door, and it opened easily when he pulled the handle.

“Light!”

Casting another spell, a bright orb of light appeared in the air.

Stepping through the door, he surveyed the contents before him.

If the culprit had followed him into this place, it wouldn’t have been surprising if they fainted on the spot.

Before him loomed a horde of grotesque demons, their forms twisted and unsettling.

Jakart twisted his lips into a smirk, licking them with a flick of his tongue.

“Shall we begin the feast?”

His eyes, which had been glowing an icy blue, now shifted to a menacing yellow.

The patron deity he served had changed—from the god of hunger and cold to the god of gluttony and frenzy.

In the next moment, with madness gleaming in his eyes, he opened his mouth wide.

Astonishingly, his mouth stretched wider and wider, his jaw unhinging like a snake’s as he began to devour the demons.

Crunch… crunch…!

His grotesquely expanded mouth swallowed the demons without hesitation.

It was a truly chilling sight.

As he consumed the demons with abandon, his body began to swell rapidly.

**

“He couldn’t have run away.”

Sabigang moved forward slowly.

He had just shaken off the chill enough to move freely again.

But his legs weren’t quite back to normal.

A heavy sensation still lingered.

It seemed a powerful cold had been unleashed.

“If he used the deity’s power to this extent, it means he switched to another god. What was the deity he served again?”

As Sabigang racked his memory, scanning the manor, a sudden tremor shook the ground as if an earthquake had struck.

The tremors grew more intense.

Rumble… rumble…!

Crash!

Suddenly, an entire pavilion shattered, and a massive shadow surged up from below.

Sabigang tilted his head back to look at the unexpected foe.

A body resembling a giant caterpillar.

Dozens of distorted faces embedded all over its body.

Thousands of tentacles writhed and flailed wildly.

The faces turned to Sabigang and shouted in unison.

“Disgusting human. You dared to challenge us, and now you’ll pay the price.”

The voices boomed together.

Sabigang murmured to himself as he gazed at the monstrous caterpillar.

“I think I remember now. Yes, it was the god of devouring, wasn’t it?”
